Roles & Responsibilities:

  • Operational and Strategic Support (Protection, Gender and Inclusion)
  • Represent organisation as Protection, Gender and Inclusion (PGI) focal as well as Child Protection (CP) focal.
  • Support Bangladesh Red Crescent Society (BDRCS), IFRC Bangladesh Country Office and Partner National Societies (PNSs) to ensure that all programmes and emergency operations are implemented in accordance with Movement policies and guidelines relevant to protection, gender and inclusion (PGI) i.e. IFRC Minimum Standards on Gender and Diversity in Emergency Programming, as well as adhere to international standards and best practices related to protection, gender, diversity, disability inclusion, child protection, sexual- and gender based violence.
  • Support BDRCS institutional capacity development and institutionalisation of PGI through reviewing Gender & Diversity Policy, Child Protection Policy and developing Anti-Harassment Policy.
  • Support the mainstreaming of Gender and Diversity and CP in long-term projects (e.g. resilience programs) and emergency response operations of BDRCS, IFRC and PNSs.
  • Support the implementation of projects related to Gender and Diversity and Child Protection through providing strategic guidance, ensuring quality of planned activities, reviewing budgets and M&E plans. Supporting donor reporting of projects related to Gender and Diversity and Child Protection as per reporting template within scheduled timeframe.
  • Ensure all planned activities under PGI are implemented according to plan and budget.
  • Support BDRCS Gender Working Committee (GWC) in liaising with key departments/units in BDRCS, such as DRM, DR, OD, PMER, CEA, HR to promote the work culture and integration of gender and diversity;
  • Participate in BDRCS GWC meetings and dialogue with Senior Management to support strategic decision making with regards to PGI mainstreaming and activities.
  • Participate in BDRCS recruitment of staff/resource persons and procurement of goods/services in relation to PGI interventions.
  • Support BDRCS and IFRC to mainstream gender age marker and incorporate it with Disaster Relief Emergency Fund (DREF) and Emergency Appeal.
  • Support BDRCS in developing and implementation of guidelines, ToR, concept notes, and tools as necessary for the PGI interventions.
  • Technical Capacity Building (including branch capacity) of BDRCSs staff and volunteers
  • Conduct and facilitate trainings on PGI issues, using the IFRCs Seven Moves Gender and Diversity training package and IFRCs Prevention and Response to Sexual and Gender Based Violence training package.
  • Supporting the development and implementations on training materials on gender and diversity, protection from sexual exploitation and abuse, sexual harassment, child protection and anti-trafficking issues such as curriculum, ToT handbook, etc. All in accordance with the "do no harm approach" and adhering to IFRC Minimum Standards on Gender and Diversity in Emergency Programming.
  • Support in designing, testing and implementation of IEC materials for PGI interventions in emergency operations and development programs.
  • Protection Gender and Social Inclusion Assessment, Situation Analysis and Updates
  • Coordinate and/or participate in protection, gender and diversity assessments and draw analysis to identify specific protection concerns, risks, needs and prioritises of girls, boys, women and men of all ages and backgrounds and (in coordination with other relevant protection actors) develop strategies to address specific protection concerns and risks (i.e. sexual- and gender-based violence, child protection, anti-trafficking etc.).
  • Develop and share timely situational protection and gender and diversity analysis and updates to IFRC Country Office in Bangladesh and the IFRC Asia Pacific Regional Office.
  • Provide PGI input in the Country plan, emergency appeal and development proposal. Collaboration and Coordination with Partner National Societies and other External Partners.
  • Conduct real time assessment and monitoring report on minimum standard commitment on gender and diversity and humanitarian response of BDRCS.
  • Collaboration and Coordination with External Partners

Educational Qualification:

  • Relevant university degree or similar professional qualification (gender, international relations, human rights, Development studies etc.)

Work Experience:

  • At least 3 year(s)

Others Requirements:

  • At Least 3 years experience in Gender and Diversity mainstreaming or standalone programming in humanitarian context, including proven track record in leading and delivering tools, and technical advisory outcomes.
  • Experience in relief and recovery operations working on protection, gender and inclusion issues
  • Experience working on protection assessment, programs and strategies (including prevention, mitigation and response to Sexual and Gender based violence and child protection).
  • Work or volunteering for the Red Cross Red Crescent Movement;
  • Knowledge and Skills:
  • Possesses a broad understanding of global humanitarian issues, disaster recovery and related organizations
  • Possesses working knowledge of Gender and Diversity issues in humanitarian and development settings, including child protection, sexual- and gender-based violence, disability inclusion specifically in the context of Bangladesh.
  • Ability to facilitate trainings and workshops on technical matters Proven experience in general office management and administration including procurement and logistics
  • Good analytical skills
  • Knowledge of project management in a humanitarian or development context
  • Experience of conduction training to senior and mid-level personnel
  • Skills in developing and enhancing staff capacity;
  • Ability to multi-task and work under pressure
  • Ability to deliver multiple activities with a degree of diversity; ability to create integration across these activities
  • Ability to complete tasks with minimal supervision
  • Ability to work on MS applications e.g. Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
