Roles & Responsibilities:

  • Administers a proficiency testing program for the laboratory, integrating existing EQAS programs and IQC conducted by the laboratory, analyzes accumulated results for any indication of consistent error, and ensures proper corrective action is initiated. Assist in preparation of summary response for proficiency testing failure.
  • Plans, organizes, and administers an independently functioning quality control program for all units of the laboratory.
  • Conducts special investigations on reports on patient and customer complaints about the quality of laboratory service or which render quality laboratory service ineffective and develop appropriate recommendations to implement corrective measures.
  • Confers with laboratory unit heads to determine the extent of current compliance with legal and accrediting agency standards of quality control and, where appropriate, to establish a program to ensure compliance by a specified advance date.
  • Inspects or supervises the inspection of laboratory instruments and other apparatus to certify proper calibration, reliability of analytical weights and balances, centrifuge speeds, and similar properties; plans programs to ensure prevention of recurrent problems.
  • Implementing policies with respect to aspects of the Clinical Laboratory Improvement Amendments (CLIA) regulations, CAP accreditation, ISO 15189 accreditation, as applicable for laboratories.
  • Ensure update all SOPs in the line of CAP and assist with policy development & review including document control management.
  • Provide continuing education programs for staff development in the areas of quality control, quality assurance, CAP, ISO & CLIA regulations and policies.
  • Compiles and maintains a reference library of professional journals, articles and other texts on the subject of medical laboratory quality control and a current listing of all quality control standards to which legal and accrediting agencies require conformance.

Educational Qualification:

  • University Graduate in Chemistry/Biochemistry - preferably with a Masters Degree.

  • Age at most 55 years
  • Must possess a Bachelors in Medical Laboratory Science/Medical Technology.
  • Knowledge of Information System & process improvement techniques is required.
  • Data management & analysis expertise is essential.
