Advocacy and Communication Coordinator (EVPRA Project)

Roles & Responsibilities:

  • Lead the implementation of World Visions Community Voice and Action - CVA methodology to raise the voices of the vulnerable so that they are empowered to access their rights, entitlements and the social safety net services provided by the government.
  • Strengthen networking/partnership with Government, key donors (particularly the EC), and national and international CSOs around existing Social Safety Net services and programmes for indigenous and other vulnerable people.
  • Analyse and evaluate the impact of advocacy activities and reflect this in progress reports, working in collaboration with the M&E Coordinator and Project Manager.
  • Promote favourable policies, systems and structures for the most vulnerable people and specifically including the plain land indigenous ethnic minorities, and women and girls.
  • Lead and closely work to ensure that functional CBOs exist with effective, rotating leadership practice.
  • Take the lead in researching, writing and promoting media stories to local and national print and electronic media.
  • Provide training support to all staff and partners in the Action on advocacy and communication issues including advocacy frameworks, media skills, and presentation skills.
  • Building effective relationships with the Government.
  • Advocacy Capacity building for Partners/CSOs.
  • Effective Media and Communication.
  • Reporting and documentation.

Educational Qualification:

  • Essential: Master degree in communications, political science or development studies.
  • Preferable: Post graduate degree in political science or law.

Work Experience:

  • At least 3 year(s)

  • Ability to communicate both technical input and advocacy issues clearly and simply.
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a team.
  • Experienced working under pressure and can take additional responsibilities.
  • Basic computer literacy using of Microsoft Office Microsoft Word, Excel & MS Power Point.
  • Ability to drive motorbike with valid driving license.
  • Must be willing to live within the project working area.
  • Minimum 3 year of experience in advocacy related field in a technical role.
  • Minimum 3 years experience working with institutional donors and on grant-funded projects, ideally including the EC.
  • Must be willing to live in the project working area and 60% fieldwork is expected.
  • his role will work directly with team leaders and other team members.
  • Ready to accept challenges and cope with change.
