Roles & Responsibilities:

  • Under the direct supervision of the Protection Officer, GBV Operations Officer and overall guidance of the Head of Sub Office in Coxs Bazar, Bangladesh, the successful candidate will support the coordination of the GBV team activities. She/he will oversee individual and group-based activities of WFF. S/he will also guide and oversee information collection related to GBV and health gaps and services:
  • The incumbent will be assigned to inter alia, the following tasks:
  • Reinforce adherence to the GBV guiding principles throughout all Protection activities
  • Verify that Protection/GBV interventions, adhere to best-practice principles with survivors of GBV and inform the supervisors of any deviation.
  • Coordinate the GBV Case Workers, Community Engagement Team Leaders, Mobilizers, PSS assistants provide logistical, administrative and financial support to GBV team and the program
  • Lead on GBV assessments in camps with relevant sectors including health, site management, wash and shelter programs.
  • Hold regular planning and debriefing sessions with team members
  • Support staff professional development and foster a positive team spirit to encourage innovative and quality programming.
  • Identify training needs for Protection team and support organization and facilitation of training and capacity building to meet those needs, in collaboration with the IOMs GBV technical lead/Program Manager.
  • Monitor GBV trends, gaps and needs and provide leadership to the community engagement team leaders
  • Prepare and maintain/update detailed work plan(s) that support and achieve activities.
  • Identify concerns related to and support adherence to GBV referral protocols by all relevant organizations and agencies
  • Liaise and coordinate with CiCs and site management including representing IOM in relevant meetings and coordination structures
  • Maintain effective working relationships with relevant stakeholders including community leaders and other implementing organizations and agencies
  • Prepare and submit weekly, monthly and three-month work plans in a timely manner, and incorporate supervisor feedback as requested; Compile monthly activity report for submission
  • Ensure that all relevant financial documentation is accurately completed and submitted
  • Ensure that attendance records and other reporting tools are implemented and routinely provided to relevant staff including M/E Officer and/or Program Assistant
  • Monitor data collection to ensure that staff collect data in safe and ethical ways
  • Maintain positive coordination and relationships with partner and other sector staff.

Educational Qualification:

  • University degree, preferably in psychology, womens studies, social work or public health with minimum of four years-experience in the field of migration, IDP and refugee assistance and protection (including specific experience on Child Protection); or
  • High school degree, preferably in psychology, womens studies, social work or public health with minimum of six years-experience in the field of migration, IDP and refugee assistance and protection (including specific experience on Child Protection);

Work Experience:

  • At least 4 year(s)

Others Requirements:

  • Experience in emergency operations and liaison with other UN and non-UN humanitarian actors.
  • Knowledge of the region and/or country an advantage
  • Contribute to the development of work plans;
  • Counseling and training experience.
  • Clear understanding of gender, human rights, issues surrounding violence against women and girls
  • Experience working in emergency responses targeting vulnerable women and girls
  • Demonstrated understanding of and ability to maintain confidentiality and respect for clients
  • Knowledge and experience with community outreach and mobilization
  • Experience facilitating trainings, seminars, conferences and workshops and mentoring for IOM staff and other stakeholders when needed.
  • Positive and professional attitude, including ability to lead and work well in a team setting
  • Strong ability to organize work, meet deadlines, maintain composure, prioritize work under pressure, coordinate multiple tasks and maintain attention to detail
  • Personal qualities: Works well in and promotes teamwork, comfortable in a multi-cultural environment, flexible and able to handle pressure well.
  • Excellent communication, listening and observation skills, including ability to create trust, support, respect and interact with survivors of all ages, background and diversity
  • Demonstrated commitment to womens empowerment and protection through current/ previous volunteer or other relevant experience is an added advantage
  • Familiarity with principles of monitoring and evaluation. Experience in writing brief narrative reports.
  • Computer literate, including Microsoft Word and Excel
